Spital Arts are proud and delighted to welcome Chesterfield’s wonderful Blair Dunlop for a long-awaited return to Spital Arts. Blair recently made a brief appearance at Stainsby Folk Festival supporting his mum, Judy Dunlop to much acclaim from the audience.
Blair is now an award-winning British singer-songwriter and guitarist, and has released 4 albums with 2 EPs and toured around the globe. All of this in a short 5-year career is astounding alone but what sets Blair apart from his peers is the lyrical and musical maturity with which he writes. His third album ‘Gilded’ was released in May 2016 on his own label – Gilded Wings – and was widely acclaimed gaining BBC Radio 2 Playlist status for the two single releases (‘The Egoist’ and ‘356’). Prior to this Blair released his acclaimed album ‘House Of Jacks’ in mid-2014 which lived up to the promise of his 2012 debut ‘Blight and Blossom’ (the quality of which contributed to his winning the BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award). Blair has now cemented his place as one of Britain’s most exciting talents.. 2018 Blair saw the release of his 4th album ‘Notes From An Island’ on his own label to rave reviews.
“An adept guitarist whose epic songwriting instincts prevail on a personal-political fourth album” MOJO
We also have a unique appearance from Jonathan Dellicour (Rude Not To) all the way from Brussels, Belgium. Jonathan is one of the famous Belgian Spireites a group of young men who started supporting Chesterfield FC about 10 years ago and have been loyal followers ever since. As Rude Not To, Jonathan has recently produced a very successful album, ‘Why Chesterfield’ dedicated to our Town and its football team! Although the Spireites will be far away at Ebbsfleet United, Jonathan has still agreed to travel all the way from Brussels for this gig, possibly with some of the Belgian Spireites cheering him on!
Based out of Brussels, Jonathan Dellicour has been a guitarist and composer since around Keith Richards’ fiftieth birthday. His favourite style is fingerpicking, a guitar-playing technique based on the exclusive use of fingers.
