An exhibition of beautiful art made in Derbyshire.

Why not combine getting into the countryside and enjoying viewing art at the same time? Derbyshire Open Arts is the perfect excuse to explore this beautiful county, visit inspiring workspaces, talk to artists and have the opportunity to buy an original piece of artwork.

The 19th Derbyshire Open Arts will take place over the Whit Bank Holiday weekend, Saturday 24th – Monday 26th May 2025.  There will be 68 venues opening across Derbyshire with 245 artists taking part; including painters, ceramicists, textile artists, glass makers, sculptors, jewellers, photographers and printers.  Some artists will be exhibiting in their own studios or workshops, whilst others will exhibit in groups using village halls and other communal spaces.

All venues are free to visit and visitors will be able to meet the artists and have the chance to talk with them about their work, the techniques they use and the inspiration that informs their art. Some will be demonstrating their expertise and there may even be the chance to have a go.

With venues throughout Derby and Derbyshire, there’s bound to be a Derbyshire Open Arts location near you.  To check out where they are and what’s on offer, pick up a brochure from the library, local shops, galleries and other venues throughout Derbyshire and surrounding counties, or visit the website www.derbyshireopenarts.co.uk   Here, you can search out and save your favourite artists by genre, location, disabled access etc. The website map is interactive, so you can create your very own tailor-made trail and get to see as many venues as possible.  There is information on every artist and group and lots more, including a downloadable brochure.  Make sure you don’t miss some of the more ‘off the beaten track’ locations.  Who knows, maybe you might find a special piece of work to buy and take home with you.  Finally, don’t forget to check out those who offer refreshments, including home-made cakes!

Derbyshire Open Arts venues are all free to visit, and will be open 10am – 4pm, Saturday 24th to Monday 26th of May, some may also hold previews on the Friday evening.  You can also follow Derbyshire Open Arts on Facebook, Instagram and X/Twitter, for the very latest updates and exclusive videos.
