We are a writers’ group for women, specialising in the short story. Our meetings consist of general information-sharing and constructive criticism of work submitted prior to meeting or sometimes at meeting (contact Brenda Ray or Anne MacDonald as above for details)in a friendly informal atmosphere. Meet usually at Derby Council House on Monday evenings, monthly or six-weekly, as arranged. Due to Council House renovation work, we will not be meeting here after September 2010, so please contact either of the above for details. We are a small group, finding about 6 attendees per meeting works best, so everyone can get a say. Occasionally we have workshops or public readings of our work. We’re happy to meet writers at any stage in their development. We currently need new members, as several have moved away from the district. If you are serious about writing fiction, please contact us.We are happy to look at prospective novels, nostalgia pieces etc too but not poetry, as we aren’t poets ourselves so it wouldn’t be appropriate for us to comment on other people’s work. However, fiction is our main interest. Work to be submitted at meetings should ideally be around 2000 words or less.
