Based in Ambergate, Derbyshire, wet felt artist, Steph Jansen, layers deeply coloured and textural wools, silks and fibres to reflect her interest in ancient places marked by use, as well as her love of trees and walking in the Derbyshire countryside.
The large scale of many of her ‘paintings’ heightens the emotional connection and sense of place achieved, and enables a wealth of detail and contrast unusual in felted media.
She posts regular work-in-progess and sketching videos to Instagram as @feltsteph.
