Artist profile

Poke O’Swedgers

Kev and Dave: an Anglo-Scots duo comprising two voices and one guitar, based in Chesterfield. We’ve described ourselves as “Half Rab C. Nesbitt, half BBC”.

We keep music portable and simple. Kev sings beautifully. Dave fumbles around with guitar. We write our own rhapsodies – delicate folk tales of impossible romance, computer programming and quantum physics, slightly wistful and sometimes with a heart of  darkness.  We also play a spot of trad-folk and occasional covers. We’ve played festivals, folk clubs, outdoor fundraisers

and pubs and we particularly enjoy a listening audience.

Our first album of 14 songs –  “Govanhill Moonshine” – was released in March 2019. Our second album, “Geneva’s Shore“, somewhat based on the misadventures of Lord Byron and his cohort, was released in August 2021. You can find them both on https://pokeoswedgers.bandcamp.com/

Oh… and, by the way, Poke O’Swedgers is a Scots dialect phrase meaning “A bag of sweets”.
