Arts Derbyshire

Artist profile

Miriam Keye

I credit dance with the inimitable accolade of literally saving my life. Re-discovering dance in my teenage years I found it to be a language that offers a route into the complexity of our inner lives, connecting us with those we dance with and the places we are in.

After igniting this passion I then set out to share it with as many people from as many areas of society as I could find!

I am committed to celebrating innate dance and movement expression. I am a passionate advocate for the importance of movement throughout life. The connection between daily physical activity and emotional wellbeing, a greater ability to learn and concentrate, stronger social networks, skills such as teamwork and per support and greater physical health is now is widely evidenced and documented.

I have a strong commitment to supporting a safe creative environment within which we are all able to work to our very best. I have studied hard to improve both my session planning and communication skills in order to work kindly, fairly and inclusively.

I have a great sense of humour and fun whilst maintaining a commitment to professional artistic standards. A highly proactive and enthusiastic member of the arts community I have earned a reputation for high quality, varied and unique projects. I mentor young dancers as I have been, and still am supported by my own seniors, and arts organisations around me.
