Artist profile
I am an award winning textile designer weaving bespoke fabrics for interiors and apparel. Creating hand woven fabrics that fuse contemporary design with traditional fibres and techniques, hallmarks of my work are unusual colour combinations and rich textures. I am passionate about sustainability and the impact of textiles on the environment, so I’ve honed my practice so that I use as little water and fuel as is possible and only use wool, linen and organic cotton, with negligible waste.
My art work is an extension of my design work. It is inspired by the Derbyshire landscape and my frequent trips to Scotland. I am equally passionate about sustainability in art as in my textiles, using natural pigments in my watercolours and inks. Most of my equipment is second hand and I try to source my paper from sustainable sources.
