The Workshop

Your tutor, Suzanne, is looking forward to meeting you and says: “Discover the beautiful tradition of Indian hand-block printing in this relaxing and creative workshop. Using pre-cut, hand-carved wooden blocks from India, you’ll design and print your very own unique cotton scarf, perfect to wear over the Christmas period or to gift to someone special.

About the Craft:
Indian block printing is an ancient technique with roots that go back centuries, developed independently in different regions of India. It’s a wonderfully tactile and satisfying craft and no two scarves will be the same!

✔ A stunning 180cm x 45cm Indian cotton scarf in bright, beautiful colours
✔ Use of authentic Indian wooden printing blocks and textile inks
✔ Full guidance and instruction in a friendly, relaxed setting

What to bring?

Anticipation to enjoy the whole experience! and …

  • Reading glasses if you need them.

 

What skills are needed?

No experience is necessary. Have fun choosing your block, making your design … then use a span grip to hold the block to dip in ink and apply to your scarf.

 

What are the timings?

This is a relaxed, morning running from 10am to 1pm.

Our purple front door will be open from 9.30am so we can welcome you in, you can get to meet Suzanne and your fellow crafters and grab a cuppa before you start.

 

How many places are available?

To ensure the quality of your personal experience, the group size is limited to 10.

 

What is the cost?

£40 + 89p card fee. This includes all the materials needed to make your stunning scarf, drinks and home-made biscuits during the morning (excluding lunch).

We want you to go home with a spring in your step and feel really good about what you have achieved. To make sure we can thoroughly look after you during your workshop please fill in your booking form with all the things that will help, be it your favourite milk, or any extra support you may require. Please also let us know of allergies that we may need to highlight to your fellow crafters e.g. nuts, perfume. Many thanks.
