Dressmaking Techniques: Necklines @ Our Crafty Place

The Workshop

Your tutor, Melinda is looking forward to meeting you and says: “Are you:
• a self-taught dressmaker?
• just starting out on your dressmaking journey?
• a dressmaker with some experience looking to learn some techniques to improve the finish of your garments?

If so, this half day workshop could be just what you are looking for! Be prepared to pick up lots of tips and snippets of dressmaking information too throughout the morning!

During the workshop you will learn:
• a variety of ways to finish a neckline
• associated techniques including under stitching

You will leave this workshop with a series of sample pieces you have made demonstrating each technique covered, for you to keep to refer to in your sewing journey.

You can either bring your machine or use one of our machines (first come first served)”

What to bring?

Anticipation to enjoy the whole experience!

Specific to this workshop:

  • Your sewing machine, if possible
  • Reading glasses if you need them.

What skills are needed?

This half day workshop is suitable for beginners to dressmaking plus those with some sewing skills which you are looking to build upon. You will need to know how to use all the basic controls on a sewing machine.

What are the timings?

This is a relaxed, morning running from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

Our purple front door will be open from 9.00am so we can welcome you in, you can get to meet Melinda and your fellow crafters and grab a cuppa before you start.

How many places are available?

To ensure the quality of your personal experience, the group size is limited to 12.

What is the cost?

£30 + 71p card fee. This includes all the materials needed to learn these techniques and drinks and home-made biscuits during the morning (excluding lunch)
