Surtal Arts are excited to partner with International Women’s Day Derby.
As part of Surtal Arts’ arts in health project, Roshni, we are inviting all women and girls to come and join our puppet making workshops and help make a giant Gulabi Warrior puppet with our artist, Kate Doncaster.
The project will honour women and girls who have been victims of domestic violence with an opportunity to learn about India’s famous Gulabi Gang, be inspired by their story and encourage people to speak up against abuse.
The finished puppet will be joined by other giant puppets (Derby Suffragist Alice Wheeldon, Eco activist Greta Thunberg, a Pandemic Nurse and others) will be marched in the International Women’s Day Derby Festival procession on 5th March at Derby City Centre. The event is a celebration of women’s rights and power.
Join us for the events below, #TakeUpSpace and unleash your inner giant!
