Call for Artists Opens for Life Through A Lens of Loss at St Albans Museum + Gallery in 2027

The Art of Grieving is inviting artists to submit work for Life Through A Lens of Loss, a three month exhibition coming to St Albans Museum + Gallery in 2027. The call for artists is now open.

For the past 10 years, The Art of Grieving has organised exhibitions that shine a light on an aspect of life that is often overlooked or hidden away: loss, death and bereavement. Across four exhibitions, more than 150 artists have taken part, creating a powerful and diverse collection of work exploring the many ways in which loss shapes our lives.

The 2022 exhibition attracted nearly 20,000 visitors, demonstrating the public’s interest in art that explores this deeply human experience. The most recent exhibition took place at Gallery 101 in London in 2024.

The 2027 exhibition will bring together artists whose work has emerged from personal experiences of loss or bereavement, offering a supportive environment in which to share their stories, creativity and perspectives. Through art, the exhibition aims to open up conversations about grief, encourage connection and help bring an often-hidden part of life into the open.

The call for artists is now open. Submissions will close on Friday 15th January 2027. There is no fee to exhibit, and the exhibition will be free for visitors to attend.
