BUXTON OPERA HOUSE INTRODUCES NEW ACCESS REGISTRATION SCHEME

Buxton Opera House has announced the launch of a new access registration scheme in partnership with Nimbus Disability, designed to make booking accessible seating and essential companion tickets simpler, faster, and more convenient.

The initiative introduces a streamlined way for customers with access requirements to book essential companion tickets and use access discounts. Most significantly, audience members can now book wheelchair spaces and Essential Companion tickets directly online, where previously these bookings could only be made by phone or in person.

Administered by Nimbus Disability, a social enterprise run by and for disabled people, and a recognised leader in accessible ticketing across the UK, the registration is free, quick to complete, and valid for three years. Once registered, customers can link their unique Access Pass number to their Buxton Opera House account, allowing relevant accessible seating options and discounts to appear automatically on the online seating plan whenever they log in.

“We are always looking for ways to make visiting our two venues as easy and enjoyable as possible for everyone,” said Rebekah Powell, Ticketing and Sales Manager at Buxton Opera House. “Partnering with Nimbus Disability allows us to streamline our booking process for our audience members with access requirements. Being able to offer direct online booking for wheelchair spaces and essential companion tickets is a vital step forward in our ongoing commitment to inclusivity.”

Customers wishing to make use of access discounts and companion tickets should register through the Access Card scheme. Existing bookings are unaffected. Customers who already hold a Nimbus Access Card can simply link their card to their Buxton Opera House account online. Telephone support is available for anyone to unable to complete the process online, ensuring everyone has access to registration.

Two registration options are available: a free three-year Access Registration recognised at both Buxton Opera House and the Pavilion Arts Centre, or an optional upgraded full Access Card (£15 for three years) which provides recognition at participating venues across the UK, photo ID with accessibility symbols, and membership to a wider online access community group.

Further details on how to register, link accounts, and explore upcoming accessible performances can be found at buxtonoperahouse.org.uk/visit/access/ or by contacting the Box Office on 01298 72190. For access enquiries please contact access@boh.org.uk.
