Sue Wilkins – Hello to my “old” friend and welcome to my new customers

Sue Wilkins - Hello to my “old” friend and welcome to my new customers

A friendly “hello again” to my long-standing customers and a very warm welcome to all my new customers who have joined us this summer.

Where did I meet you? Was it Lytham, Staffordshire County Show, Ashbourne Show, Peak Village, Hardwick or Trentham Food and Drink Festivals, the Ukrainian Centre in Huddersfield, Bolton, Buxton or Haddon Hall?  Wow! Even I can’t quite believe we’ve done so many. But hasn’t it been lovely to get out and about again, after the year we’ve just had?

As you can see, I’ve just completed a wonderful spring and summer of shows and craft fairs and so I thought I would drop you all a line.  In particular, I wanted to say a warm hello to the hundreds of new customers who have bought from me for the first time this year.

And to celebrate my two pieces of good news (see below), I decided to send you all a voucher code, in case you wanted to buy another of my books.  (Don’t worry: there’ll be another voucher in late October, ready for Christmas).

If you want to go straight to place an order, please remember to use the code SUMMER21 for £1 off each item. It’s valid until 30 September.

As your child or grandchild gets ready to go back to school – or perhaps they are starting school for the first time – what better send-off than to give them a story book to encourage their reading.  I’m sure you agree that literacy is one of the most important gifts we can ever give our children.

One of the best experiences I have is when a former customer comes to the stall and says something like: “Oh, s/he just loves your books!”  I want to say a special thank you to those of you who have taken the trouble this summer to come and tell me this. And I’ll never forget one mum who said that her daughter had asked for “Alfie’s Story” to be read four times – non-stop!

I have two pieces of good news to share with you.

First, my sixth book (about a mischievous little dog) went to Liz, my illustrator, last week and should be ready for publication sometime in the new year.  I’m really looking forward to you all being able to see it!

And the other is that on Sunday 29 August, at Lytham St Annes, I sold my 16,000th book. Being self published, I have to do all my own marketing, so I’m really grateful to all those 16,000 customers.

If you’d like to buy another book for a little one or for someone going to school, just go over to my website at and enter the voucher code SUMMER21 for £1 off each item.  This will be valid during September. This offer is for all my customers.  And you are welcome to pass it on to all your family and friends as well.
