If you are looking for creative writing courses in Derbyshire, then look no further, Derbyshire Writing School is here to help!
Buxton based Laura Stroud has launched Derbyshire Writing School this autumn to help future authors tell their story. With exciting creative writing courses, writing retreats and even writing coaching, Derbyshire writing school offer lots of opportunities for you to start writing as a new hobby or finally write that book you’ve been dreaming about.
Laura told us why she decided to set up Derbyshire Writing School, “I’ve been on creative writing courses before and felt out of place, I worried that I didn’t know enough about writing or that I hadn’t read all the ‘right’ books, it made me feel really uncomfortable and not very welcome. I wanted to set up Derbyshire Writing School as a welcoming and inclusive place for all writers and future writers. A place to learn, have fun and feel comfortable in the process. My courses are creative and informal, and they are filled with lots of exciting and different activities that will help you find your writing voice. Giving you the confidence to tell your story.”
On the 20th September 2022, you can join the three week online creative writing course ‘memories to memoir’ and learn how to write your very own memoir. Gone are the days when memoirs were just for celebrities. Why not try your hand at documenting the adventures of your life and leaving it as a living legacy for your family?
You can learn how to write your memoir or discover how long it takes to write a novel, from the comfort of your own home.
Laura commented, “We’ve got lots of face to face creative writing retreats and creative writing bootcamps planned for 2022 and 2023, all located in Buxton and across Derbyshire. The Peak District provides a fantastic back drop and inspiration for writing. We feel really lucky to be based here.”
Since lockdown, lots of us have turned to new hobbies and activities we can do from our home. This looks like it’s set to continue this winter. Derbyshire Writing School can help with creative writing prompts and creative writing blog posts. Why not let 2022 be the year you finally write your book?
Laura said, “Our courses and workshops are updated each month. Have a look at our website to book directly. We have limited places on all of our courses to allow us to work closely with each participant. Creative writing is for everyone, whatever your previous experience. We can’t wait to hear all your stories.”
