The Museum of Making received a Special Commendation at the European Museum of the Year Award 2024!
50 museums from over 24 countries were nominated for this year’s prestigious award, with only 2 others nominations coming from the UK. The overall winner of the EMYA 24 award was Sámi Museum Siida, whose museum has been created for, by, and with the Sami communities as a safe place to collect Sámi heritage.
Amina Krvavac, EMYA Chair and Jury 2024, had this to say about the Museum of Making’s commendation: “Visitors will find various exhibitions, events, workshops, and hands-on activities, making this manufacturing history museum a dynamic place for creativity, acquiring new skills, experimentation, and cooperation.”
Tony Butler, Executive Director of the Museum of Making, said: “It was a humbling and inspiring experience to share the stage with museums from across Europe. I would like to congratulate The Sámi Museum Siida on their success and all the winners and fellow nominees on their exceptional work.”
