The search is on for talented kids who want to join the cast of Sleeping Beauty, this year’s Derby pantomime.
Little Wolf Entertainment are seeking kids bursting with energy and personality to appear on stage at Derby Arena with professional actors – including former Eastenders star Rita Simons as the wicked Carabosse!
Auditions are open to boys and girls aged 9 – 16 who can act, sing and dance, although previous theatre experience is not essential. So if your mini star has had to press the snooze button on performing for the last year or so, this could be their chance to shine!
Being part of the Junior Ensemble is amazing but involves a lot of rehearsals and commitment. Find out more and apply at littlewolf.co.uk. The closing date for applications is Friday 30th July. Those who are 16 will need to be in Year 11 at school at the time of the performances.
Audition day is Sunday 15th August and, in a change to previous years, applicants need to register online, after which they will be given a time slot for a small group session. There is no need to prepare anything in advance. Every child will get the chance to showcase their acting, dancing and singing skills and should come prepared to have lots of fun!
You’ll need to be free for rehearsals from 18th November onwards, with performances from 10th December to 8th January.
Morgan Brind and Alan Bowles from Derby-based Little Wolf Entertainment said: “Every year we’re wowed by just how talented the children of Derby are and we can’t wait to meet them on audition day! Make sure you apply before 30th July – if you snooze, you lose!”
Councillor Ross McCristal, Derby City Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Tourism and Wellbeing said: “Being part of the Junior Ensemble is an incredible opportunity, and I would urge all the budding young performers in Derby to give it a go. I wish you all the best of luck.”
