Book onto a course for 2022/23

Take steps to learn something new

Is it time to get yourself prepared for a new career or gain more skills for your employability?

Bookings for the Autumn term are open, you can view the courses online at derbyshire.gov.uk/coursesearch or pick up a brochure from you local Adult Community Education Centre or library.

If you are looking for Qualifications or Essential Skills visit Qualifications and skills – Derbyshire County Council. To find out more about our non-qualification (Community Learning) courses visit Community learning – Derbyshire County Council.

Many of our courses are FREE or have fee reductions for those on certain income related benefits.

Some of the courses we have available:

  • Maths and English from entry level to GCSE
  • Counselling skills
  • Lip reading and signed communication
  • Working with children
  • Personal development, such as dealing with stress and how to gain confidence
  • Languages
  • Digital skills such as using a computer for work.

There are also courses available if you are looking to explore gain skills which can help your wellbeing, communication and fine motor skills.

Entrants top 100 for July’s Buxton Fringe

Over 100 entrants have registered for this year’s Buxton Fringe so far with just a few weeks still to go before the final entry date for the printed programme. The discounted ‘early bird’ entry period up till the end of February was responsible for much of this activity with managed venue Underground announcing that they are back for 2025 with not one but two managed venues at Spring Gardens and in Fairfield. Many other venues in Buxton and beyond are also in use this year.
