Writing for theatre can seem overwhelming. From figuring out how to write scene descriptions, formatting dialogue, and making sure that what you’re writing is actually possible to be brought to life on stage, it can feel like an impossible maze with no way out, no matter whether you’re a new playwright or a 21st Century Shakespeare. In this masterclass, we forget all that, and get down to the thing you’d much rather be doing when preparing a script for the stage – actually writing it.
You’ll learn key techniques such as unique worldbuilding, creating a distinctive character voice, considering storytelling techniques from other autistic writers and answering the all-important ‘Unanswerable Question’ that will form the thread for your next play (or, the one you’re currently writing). Whether you’re writing a one-man play, a three-minute monologue, or simply want to try your hand at a different style of writing, this masterclass is for you. No prior experience needed, just bring the most important thing to this workshop – your voice.
