March Sunday Coffee Concert – With members of the Hallé

Event details

Welcome to the 11th season of Coffee Concerts, with members of the Hallé, at Spring Bank Arts. We’re delighted to welcome back many familiar faces, and some new players with a series of three concerts of music ranging from Mozart through to great 20th century masterpieces.

First up on March 17th we welcome principal wind players from the Hallé bringing you a varied programme of music by the Hungarian/British composer Mátyás Seiber, and Weber, alongside the main work in the programme – the wonderful original version of Mozart’s Serenade K375. This is Mozart’s earliest masterpiece for wind ensemble. A few weeks after the first performance in 1781 Mozart, to his great delight, was treated to a serenade of this music at 11pm outside his apartment, on a cold November night. In the warmer and more comfortable surroundings of Spring Bank Arts, it will be a treat to hear the beautiful blend of clarinets, bassoons and horns performing the sextet version of this great work.

Performed by:
Sergio Castelló López and Rosa Campos Fernandez – clarinets
Elena Comelli and Simon Davies – bassoons
Julian Plummer and Matthew Head – horns

Fresh Coffee & delicious cakes served at 11am – included in the ticket price!
Tickets can be purchased for each concert in the series for £16 or as a season ticket for all three at a discounted rate of £42.

Please note that Season Tickets can only be purchased from Spring Bank Arts directly Mon to Fri 9:30-12:30 on 01663 308202.
