Although a competition, oftentimes you’ll hear the mantra “the point is not the points, the point is the poetry”. Slam brings out raw and emotional responses to relevant topics, to both the writer and the current social situation.
This year’s Slam takes place after five years of successful slams in Derby. Expect an emotive evening filled with passion, enthusiasm and joy at what is always one of the liveliest nights of the festival.
Sign-ups for this year’s Slam have now closed, and we’ll be announcing the slammers shortly, check out our social media to see the line-up. We’ll also have a DJ on the night, we’d recommend joining us just for the vibes.
Derby Poetry Festival is made possible due to support from by Arts Council England and Derby City Council.
