The Comedy Village – Eyam

Event details

The Comedy Village was created by comedian Rob Rouse. He wanted to bring the best stand-up comedy to the small villages in the Peak District. His dream was to create evenings full of laughter, that would bring small communities together, reducing the need for people to have to travel into the cities to find entertainment and culture.

Head to the Eyam Village Institute on the 14th of November to hear from two wonderful comedians, Jessica Fostekew and Sally-Anne Hayward as they bring incredible comedy to the Peaks.

Jessica Fostekew

Acclaimed star of BBC’s QI, Live at the Apollo, and C4’s Travel Man

Jess, a familiar face on popular panel shows from Celebrity Pointless to House of Games, is not just a comedian; she’s a force. Don’t miss this vibrant and essential voice in comedy.

Jess’ previous triumphs include her sold-out Edinburgh Fringe run and UK tour of “Wench,” now available as a special. The uproarious “Hench,” nominated for Best Show at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards and winner of Best Show at the Chortle Awards, can be streamed on Amazon Prime.

This powerhouse comedian also co-hosts The Guilty Feminist podcast, hosts her podcast about eating called “Hoovering,” and is the star and writer of BBC Radio 4’s “Sturdy Girl Club.” Her talent shines in the award-winning sitcom Motherland and the acclaimed feature film Scrapper, winner of the Grand Jury prize at the Sundance Festival.

‘A loud, lively, and vital voice’ ★★★★ Evening Standard

‘She wears her smarts on her sleeve’ ★★★★ Guardian

‘She finds a new fiercely funny strain of comedy that’s her own’ ★★★★ Times

Sally-Anne Hayward

Sally-Anne is an award-winning comedian (Best UK Compere 2019 and Holsten Pils ‘Fans of Comedy’ award) and a sought-after corporate performer (with clients including Virgin Media and Alcatel).  She is also a regular compere at Glastonbury Festival.

She has proven her writing talents with numerous Edinburgh Fringe shows and can display a depth of material that marks out the best comic talent. She has performed all over the world and has provided tour support for Sarah Millican, Russell Howard,  Russell Kane, Hal Cruttenden and Suzi Ruffell.

Sally-Anne was co-host on BBC Radio Ulster’s ‘Tell Teresa’ which was nominated for an ARIA in The Comedy Award category. She also appeared in Mark Steel’s BBC Radio 4 show ‘Unite’: LISTEN HERE.

An accomplished breakfast radio presenter (Star 107.2) with TV credits (‘The Blame Game’ BBC) and radio panel show credits (‘Elephant in The Room’ BBC Radio 4), as well as TV warm-up (‘Deal or No Deal’ Channel 4).

She co-hosts a podcast called Spit or Swallow, along with Lou Conran.  Together they incorporate their love of wine, celebrity guests and drunk stories.

A journalist also, Sally-Anne has written for Standard Issue Magazine on a variety of subjects.

“Innate effusive likeability with straightforward but effective writing…. a primetime act”

CHORTLE

“Small time country posh life versus young lady breaking into the stand-up circuit. Fabulous.”

BBC

“It’s easy to imagine Hayward at the 02 or guesting on QI. She is a crowd-pleaser and a straightforward observational comic, but so are most of Britain’s favourite comedians today. Hayward is easily the equal of any of them”
