What's on
Join textile artist Anne Kelly and make a superhero mask.
Families are invited to join us in the Creative Space for a special workshop with our visiting artist. Anne will help you to create your own superhero mask from fabric and paper. Expect gluing and drawing, stitching, and snipping.
What will your arty superpower be?
This activity is inspired by our new exhibition, ‘Well Travelled’, by textile artist Anne Kelly.
Anne has written four books on textile art and teaches workshops on textile and mixed-media art all over the world.
She is known for her intricately embroidered artworks which are inspired by travel, memory, nature, and especially folk art.
Masks can be worn as a disguise or as a way to dress up as a fantasy character. They feature in many stories and events that are important to us, including carnival, Halloween and even the adventures of superheroes. In this workshop, we are inviting you to be inspired either by your favourite hero or by a carnival character a way of connecting with these stories and traditions. You are welcome to bring along any photos or images that represent any of these ideas to help you with your design.
All materials will be provided, but if you have a sewing kit, please feel free to bring it along.
