Furthest from the Sea Festival 2022

Event details

Derby’s FREE FAMILY PIRATE FESTIVAL returns for its 9th year!

Ahoy there, pirates!!! Once again Furthest from the Sea’s colossally creative crew will be dropping anchor on Cathedral Green for the 9th Furthest from the Sea Festival. On 25th June this central riverside site (just outside the Museum of Making) will be home to an abundance of activities to get involved with, performances to make you smile, and space to sit back and enjoy a day of fun for all the family. Bring a picnic or enjoy a fresh, summer barbeque from The River Kitchen at the Museum of Making.

Thanks to funding from Arts Council England, along with support from some great local organisations, all activities are completely free – just bring a smile and a large wad of enthusiasm. Fancy dress most heartily encouraged!

Performance highlights include: the Derby premiere of Autin Dance Theatre’s spectacular, Out Of The Deep Blue, a moving tale about our earth’s climate emergency featuring Eko, a 13-foot-tall Sea Giant Puppet; song writing with Sinfonia Viva; live music with Pure Steel Band and Paytron Saint; letterpress printing with the Smallprint Company; dancing; singing; making galore…follow our social media for many more incredible acts to be revealed!
