What's on
Bird Illustration Workshop with Sally Anderson
Come and spend a creative morning with me drawing, painting and creating beautiful bird illustrations.
This workshop is all about taking a little time out for yourself, slowing down and enjoying the process of making art in a relaxed and welcoming setting. Using watercolour, ink and a little collage, we’ll create expressive bird illustrations inspired by familiar British garden birds, exploring colour, texture and composition in a playful and creative way.
Together we’ll work in an illustrative style, focusing less on creating a perfect drawing and more on enjoying the process, experimenting with materials and developing artwork that feels personal and unique to you. Whether you’re a complete beginner or someone who enjoys being creative already, this workshop is designed to help you switch off, unwind and spend a few hours immersed in making.
I’m a children’s book illustrator with a background in observational drawing, and I currently teach art at college level and lead adult art workshops. Alongside illustrating books, I also create murals, window art and creative workshops, and I love helping people reconnect with drawing in a fun, accessible and playful way.
I’ll begin the session with a short demonstration to help everyone get started. Throughout the workshop I’ll be on hand to offer guidance, ideas and encouragement as you explore materials, compositions and ways of working creatively.
The session is designed to feel relaxed and enjoyable – more like carving some time out to create than attending a formal class. By the end of the morning you’ll leave with a finished bird illustration and, hopefully, feeling refreshed, inspired and ready to keep creating.
