Tapton Lock Festival

Event details

Tapton Lock Festival
10th & 11th September
Lockoford Lane, Chesterfield, S41 7JB
11.00am – 4.00pm

Come along and join us for a free weekend of fun for all the family along the banks of the beautiful Chesterfield Canal.

This year is our 10th anniversary and to celebrate we’ve been working with the Chesterfield BME Forum to make this a truly multi-cultural event. As well as our inspiring arts and crafts workshops, climbing wall, canoeing, circus skills workshops and bubbleologist, we have some amazing performances from around the world.

On Saturday we’re thrilled to be welcoming Hoverla who will be showcasing their lively and energetic Ukrainian music and dance AND offering a workshop for our visitors to have a go themselves!

On Sunday you can watch a stunning Chinese Lion Dance and get up close when the lion will walk around the festival site.

There will also be performances of Polish music from Polonia Chesterfield and singing and music from the Chesterfield African Caribbean Community Association.

Last but not least, on Saturday you can also watch a storytelling performance by young people who’ve been taking part in a project called Our Stories, Our Places, Our Futures. They will also be delivering a workshop for visitors to create magical stories of their own. (Our Stories, Our Places, Our Futures is a partnership project with Adverse Camber.)

We’re striving to make the Tapton Lock Festival car and plastic free, so please visit on foot or by train or bus and if possible and bring a refillable water bottle which can be topped up on site.

  • Start date: 10/09/2022
