Sing Viva is a choir for carers from all over Derbyshire, run by Sinfonia Viva and supported by Arts Derbyshire. The choir meets monthly on Zoom, plus monthly in person at the University of Derby, Kedleston Road.
It’s free to join and sings a wide range of music from choral to pop classics, as well as self-written pieces. And because it’s run by an orchestra (Sinfonia Viva), singers get the chance to perform with world-class musicians at a range of venues around the county. It is a mixed-voice choir, open to everyone. Trained choir leaders help members to gain confidence and control in using their voices. No singing experience or the ability to read music is needed. The choir uses a combination of sheet music and learning by ear.
To join, please e-mail Sinfonia Viva’s Creative Projects Producer, Hattie Coupe, on hattie@sinfoniaviva.co.uk to register your interest and find out about upcoming sessions.

“We sang Becoming One which we had worked on and co-written with professional musician Preetha Narayanan. The whole experience was fantastic, but the performance at the Cathedral was truly magical and spine tingling. Everyone felt the same. Such a great opportunity for us all and we appreciated it.”
‘Singing is very powerful and therapeutic, and for me it has lowered not only my anxiety also give me a great sense of well-being”
