Summer has arrived, and Straight Curves has a full summer programme for the months of August and September.
Drop in Badge Making Sessions
Wednesday 5th August and 2nd September 1pm – 2pm
These drop in sessions will give you a chance to make a badge, a magnet, a mirror or a bottle opener. There will be a variety of designs to colour in or you can design your own. These sessions will be cash only.
Badges £1.50, Magnets £2.50, Mirrors and bottle openers £4 each.
Drinks not included so we can focus on the making feel free to bring bottled still drinks with you if it’s hot.
Beginners Sewing Machine Skills
Sunday 9th August 10am – 1pm
Our three week beginners sewing machine skills course for adults starts on 9th August. You will learn how to use a machine and create a cushion cover, a drawstring bag and a tote bag. All materials cuppas and biscuits are included. You will learn about making channels, french seams, reverse stitching, threading up and filling bobbins.
Crafty School
Childrens stay all day 9am – 3pm
6 – 12 years old bring a packed lunch

Fri 4th September
Drop off your young people with a packed lunch for a day of creativity with Karen. We will make 6 different things in a variety of media.
Sew Cool – Learn to use a sewing machine
Everyday 4pm – 5.30pm Mon 10th – Fri 14th August
This course is for 8 – 12 year olds to learn how to use a sewing machine. They will make a pin cushion, a cushion cover, a fleecy chicken, a drawstring bag and an outfit for a toy. They will master threading up, measuring and cutting fabric and getting to grips with hems and seams.
Highland Cow
Friday 21st August 1pm – 4pm
Vicky will lead you step-by-step through the process to make your very own highland cow. She will then take it home to glaze and fire before returning to the studio for you to collect your creation.
Ceramic Toadstools
Friday 21st August 6pm – 9pm
Come along solo or with friends to create your very own ceramic toadstool. These will be glazed and fired by your lovely tutor Vicky. They are fired at high temperature so can be used in the garden once completed.
Pottery Bird Box
Saturday 22nd August 10am – 4pm
Spend a whole Saturday in the studio with Vicky getting creative making and decorating your very own birdbox that will be functional ready for your feathered friends to move in a few weeks later.
Young Bookbinding Day
Thursday 3rd September 9am – 3pm
10-18 year olds bring a packed lunch
Spend a whole day with Karen learning how to book bind and creating your very own journal to take home. There will be lots of decisions to be made about size and papers for your signatures.
