Spital Arts are keeping local  with our next gig onSaturday March 2nd when we are proud to present folk foursome Kootch and the excellent Ichabod Wolf.

The event takes place at St.Leonard’s Church, Valley Road/Hartington Road, Spital, Chesterfield S41 0HA.

Tickets cost £10 and doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

Kootch –
Kootch are a four-piece folk band that play a mix of self-penned songs and trad tunes. With Beth
on vocals, guitar and mandolin, Dean on guitar and drum, Katy on fiddle, and Ian on banjo, Kootch
like to weave tales of love and loss (this is folk music after all), spooky yarns, and stompy tunes.
Kootch have played at festivals and folk clubs across the north and midlands. Beth’s vocals won
her the Fred Jordan Trophy for Best Unaccompanied Singer at Saltburn Folk Festival, and the
band would like it on record that she hasn’t shut up about it since.

Their debut studio album is due for release in spring 2024.

Ichabod Wolf –
Ichabod Wolf is a Derbyshire-based singer-songwriter. He performs original songs about myth, mortality and unemployment in a distinctive baritone voice. HIs evocative lyricism, expressive wordplay and dark humour have earned him a reputation as a poets’ songwriter. He has spent the past decade establishing himself as the resident musician at poetry and literary events across the north of England.

His debut album, ‘Carry On, Crow’, was released on The Adult Teeth Recording Company label, in 2018, receiving praise and plays from BBC Radio 6 Music stalwarts, Radcliffe and Maconie, Shaun Keavney and Steve Lamacq, who chose the single ‘Painted Horses’ as one of his favourite tracks of 2019.

His new album, ‘Too True to be Good’ will be released by The Adult Teeth Recording Company on February 16th 2024
