Pye Hill & District Male Voice Choir

In Celebration of the Corps 140th Anniversary

Saturday 10 October 2026, 7:00 p.m.

Somercotes Salvation Army Corps was first formed in 1886 starting off in stables until a tin structure was built in its existing location and then replaced later with a brick structure in the 1930’s. It has a proud history of service to the local community and beyond, often making a positive difference to individuals who need support in a variety of ways.

This concert has been arranged to celebrate The Salvation Army’s continued presence in Somercotes for 140 years and has invited the Pye Hill & District Male Voice Choir as it also has a long local history from 1903 and has performed at Somercotes Salvation Army Corps on a number of occasions over many decades.

The choir go on tour annually and are well known nationally through this and in May visited Chester and took part in a music festival at Wrexham in which it had the privilege to be invited to sing several songs with the famous Fron Male Voice Choir (Voices from the Valley). In 2027 they have been invited by Swansea Male Voice Choir on tour to Swansea, but most of the choir’s concerts are held locally in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, often raising money for various charities and good causes.

Many genres of music will be covered in the concert and enhanced by talented soloists and musicians.

Entry to the concert is FREE on the door, but if you wish to make a voluntary donation to Somercotes Salvation Army, this would be appreciated to support its continued work in the local community. Everyone is welcome!

The Pye Hill & District Male Voice Choir rehearse at the Dale Club, Jacksdale, every Monday evening at 7.30 p.m., other than Bank Holidays. Why not come along and give it a go? You have nothing to lose, but a great deal to gain through the joy of singing and making new friends. The choir is now planning towards its own 125th Anniversary in 2027 and you are invited to be part of its future. If you would like the choir to sing for you in 2026 and/or 2027, please contact us now. We are also seeking sponsors to arrange special events in 2027 if you can help.
