English Touring Opera Concert and Lunch
Join English Touring Opera soloists on 13 May 2023, 11am – 2pm, for this lunchtime musical concert in Buxton with Soprano Julia Mariko and Baritone Jerome Knox. Julia, who performed at BIF in Little Night Music in 2021, will star in our brand new BIF production this summer, The Land of Might-Have-Been as well as our popular series, Scenes from a Musical, back by popular demand offering an hour-long show. We are delighted to be able to offer this lunchtime concert at Moorcroft House, the home of Festival supporters Pat and Philip Holland. Moorcroft is located just across the park from the Opera House in the town centre. The programme include works by Rossini, Strauss and Novello. The cost per ticket is £45 and includes lunch. Julia Mariko – Soprano Jerome Knox: Winner of the London Handel Singing competition 2020, British baritone Jerome Knox was born in London and is a graduate of the Alexander Gibson Opera School at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. This popular event returns on 16 May 2023 to enhance your enjoyment of the Festival with in-depth introductions to this year’s Festival opera productions: Orlando, La sonnambula, Il re pastore and The Land of Might-Have-Been In view of the high demand anticipated for places, we recommend early booking. The cost per ticket of £45 includes a light sandwich lunch with coffee. |

The countdown is on for BIF 2023!
Enjoy an evening of opera, music, books and jazz at our Buxton launch on Wednesday 17 May at 6pm in The Octagon, Pavilion Gardens.
There will be arias from Bellini and Mozart by sopranos Jane Burnell and Jess Hopkins, along with tenor Henry Strutt. These talented young singers hail from the RNCM and are part of BIF’s Young Artists Programme.
Don’t miss a preview of The Land of Might-Have-Been, a new musical premiering at the Festival, based on the early life of Buxton’s Vera Britain, with music by Ivor Novello.
Doors open from 5.30pm. Under 16s admitted free of charge.
