The inaugural events have seen the likes of comedy legend Julian Clary, The Kingdom Choir and Strictly judge Anton Du Beke, amongst others entertain hundreds of people each evening within the walled garden of the stunning Melbourne Hall.  Now Live At Melbourne Hall are able to announce the July line-up that will be following on from the upcoming Summer BBQ on Friday 24th June featuring Jamie Oliver’s mentor Gennaro Contaldo and Dirty Sanchez star-turned-celebrity Vegan chef Matt Pritchard.

Just The Tonic continue to deliver the laughs, bringing in some of the most recognisable and funny comedians to be found on British TV and the comedy circuit and Adam Rowe (Thurs 14th July) is no exception.  Widely regarded as one of the most exciting, young comics in the world; he has risen from a prodigious newcomer to an international headline act. His natural, laid-back persona combined with brutally honest, opinionated stand-up and his phenomenal ad-libbing ability make each of his performances unique, gloriously unpredictable and, most importantly, always hilarious making him one of the most sought after acts for all of The UK’s biggest comedy clubs & festivals.

Appearing across countless shows including Live at the Apollo, Have I Got News For You, Would I Lie to You?, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and The Great British Bake Off: Extra Slice, Phil Wang (Fri 15th July) is quicky becoming an international sensation after recording his first Netflix special last summer at the London Palladium and featuring as one of only two non-US acts in The Comedy Lineup series on the streaming giant.

Milton Jones (Sat 16th July) will be closing the weekend with his deadpan, neurotic one-liners and jokes that have made him a Perrier Comedy and Sony Award winner.  Regularly heard on Radio 4, seen on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and a regular on Mock The Week this is an opportunity to see him in his stand up glory.

Alongside the great comedy, Live At Melbourne Hall are pleased to announce something a little different in conjunction with Fabulous Places The Summer Market. Across the weekend of the 24th and 25th July, the walled garden will transform into a bubble of loveliness, a place where you happily wander and lose track of time with friends and family to browse over 60 fabulous stallholders including decorative interiors, creative makers, seasonal flowers, plants, vintage, jewellery and you can enjoy a bite to eat and relax with a glass of something lovely from the artisan food and drink stalls.  Children aged 12 and under are free.

Created by Deb Kendall, the Fabulous Places was born from a passion for shopping with small, independent businesses. After travelling across the UK to attend events, in 2009 Deb took the decision to curate a Market in her home county of Derbyshire encompassing everything she loves about events.

An important part of the Markets is that they support small local businesses, providing them with a platform to showcase their products to thousands of visitors, helping them generate income, grow their business and, in many cases, be given the exposure where collaborations and exciting new customers, both general public and trade, can be found.

Thirteen years later, the Markets take place seasonally and are attended by thousands of people from all over the UK.

On the events so far, Lord Kerr says We have been really pleased at the response to our first 2 months of events, Just The Tonic have continued to bring the laughs with such great acts and we’re still only half way through the years programme with them, with more to come in July & September.

We’re looking forward to seeing the walled garden used in a different way with Fabulous Places bringing such a well established and quality summer market we feel the strength and diverse offer at Melbourne Hall hopefully means there’s something for everyone to come along and enjoy.”

Derbyshire’s Melbourne Hall is subtly establishing itself as one the East Midlands premier venues for summer entertainment.  Eschewing the trend for sprawling festivals catering to thousands, Melbourne Hall is taking the boutique approach, under the new moniker – Live at Melbourne Hall.  Influenced by Lord & Lady Ralph Kerr’s love of the arts, these intimate events will be held within its famed walled garden with a line-up that includes comedy, music, food and one or two famous faces from the world of entertainment.

Alongside the entertainment there will be bars serving a range of craft beer, real ale, fine cider and BBQ/Street food.

About Melbourne Hall
Melbourne Hall stands in an idyllic setting in Derbyshire and is home to one of the most treasured historical gardens in the country and is the best surviving early 18th century English garden in the manner of le Notre.

The house has a chequered and unusually well-documented history, and all centuries from the 16th to the 20th have left their mark on the fabric. This combined with the fact that Melbourne remains a lived-in family home for Lord and Lady Ralph Kerr (Lord Ralph being a direct descendant of Sir John Coke who made Melbourne his home in 1629) accounts for its warm, welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.

About Just The Tonic
Just the Tonic was launched in Nottingham over 25 years ago and has played host to countless up-and-coming comics as well as the most established TV names. It is now one of the most respected live comedy brands across the UK with venues in Leicester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Reading and Watford.  It also runs shows at leading festivals including the Leicester Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Festival. Past and recent performers include the likes of Ricky Gervais, Al Murray, Bill Bailey, Stewart Lee, Simon Pegg, Noel Fielding, Dylan Moran, Ross Noble, Daniel Kitson and Johnny Vegas.

As a reaction to the restrictions imposed in the lockdowns of 2020 onwards they started doing outdoor events under the name ‘Comedy Shindigs’. A weekend of popular and successful events in Melbourne Hall 2021 featured people such as Rich Hall, Milton Jones, Jason Manford, And Reginald D Hunter.

About Fabulous Places
The Markets were established in 2010 and were held at The Roundhouse in Derby for 10 years and after a little pause in 2020, they are back creating gorgeous events in new venues around Derbyshire.

The Markets are a curated community of wonderful small businesses, with each event held within a stunning venue. They are a date in the diary for friends and family to gather, browse unique stallholders, support small businesses, enjoy a bite to eat and relax with a glass of something lovely.
