FIND OUT WHAT’S ON IN DERBYSHIRE IN AUGUST!

🥳 August is here and we are at peak holiday-season festival fun levels in Derbyshire! 🎈

As we finally summer in Derbyshire, we have plenty of places to party our weekends away in July especially since the festival season is warming up nicely. Bring it on in all these different places!!

  • The month kicks off with the Y-Not Festival, that runs 2-4 August in the middle of fields near Pikehall, and just off the High Peak Trail!
  • The Buxton Blues Festival is the same weekend – 2-5 August, a little further north of the Y-Not in the market town of Buxton
  • The mighty Bloodstock returns in the south of the County from 8 to 11 August!
  • The folks at Ilkeston Community Theatre & Festival have a week of events to entertain you in the week starting 12 August, so check out the full programme!
  • Enjoy the family friendly Barlow Carnival in the small village of Barlow near Chesterfield 14-18 August
  • Pikehall is the venue once again for Rock The Peaks over the weekend of 23-26 August
  • The Chatsworth Country Fair returns in the last weekend of August, a veritable festivals, carnival and exposition that draws huge crowds from miles around.
  • Meanwhile in Derby, the Darley Park Weekender takes up residence in Darley Park from 30 August to 1 September.
  • Then Off The Tracks Festival leads us out of August and into September over the weekend of 30 August to 1 September, with 3 days of music to keep the crowds entertained!

This Public Open Exhibition is taking place both online and at the LEVEL Centre and features work from contemporary visual artists produced both by and for learning disabled, neurodivergent, and disabled artists. There is also an immersive experience running throughout the month too called No Sleep, Just Clouds.

Jenny Marshall presents her debut solo exhibition Love Letters From The Earth Age at Banks Mills Studios.
📌 Where: Banks Mill, Derby

Meanwhile in Matlock you can go along to the Matlock Artists’ Annual Exhibition and Art Sale mid-month, where there will be over 150 pieces on display over the five days.

👛 Cost: FREE to enter, artworks for sale

Exhibition Displaced: From the Derwent to the Nile is running throughout the month and explores Derby Museum & Art Gallery’s Egyptian collections including two star exhibits at the museum, the mummified remains of ‘Pypyu’ and ‘Pa-sheri’.

Go along and listen

As part of the Ilkeston Community Festival, there’s a finale concert to round off the week’s activities, taking place in the Market Place in the centre of town.

Looking for Fun Creative Workshops for kids? Say, less! Try these workshops at Art Core in Derby.

This Ink Pen Drawing Workshop in Ashbourne will introduce you to new techniques in this medium to help you improve your ink pen drawing.

You can race around the Buxton Flowerpot Trail all month too – see if you can collect everything on offer, on display throughout the town all month!
