Derbyshire Record Office – Designing a Pit Village

Our ‘Designing a Pit Village’ online exhibition shows how the small village of Ollerton was turned into a modern pit village in the 1920s. Housing for miners (with electricity and running water), a school, a cinema, a sports ground, even a band stand and dancing area were all included.
