Why not come and have a go at a show class? Registration is on the day. Our categories this year are:
From face painting to circus skills, there is something for all children and those young at heart.
A thoroughly engaging and amazing way to learn more about dogs and how to fix common behavioural issues.
The Yorkshire Countryman trains his spaniels and birds of prey to work together; he’ll also show off his popular ferrets, known for their inquisitive nature and playful behaviour.
Appearing at over 120 shows a year in front of an estimated 2.5 million people, this unique show has captured the hearts and attention of many. New Zealander Richard Savory and his presenters Stuart and Warren entertain and educate with their fantastic sheep all over the country.
Nobby, the Norfolk Horn, stands centre stage while others are introduced to their podiums, all to their own theme tunes. Learn about each breed’s attributes and how wool from the sheep’s back becomes a jumper to wear. The shearing demonstration will have the audience captivated. However, the highlight will be the ‘Sheep Show Hustle’ or dancing sheep!
Ponies and their drivers tackle an obstacle course which is made from cones, temporary barriers, flags, arches and ramps all against the clock. All competitors must be registered with the BSTD and may drive their ponies as a single, pair, tandem or team or any sort of multiple.
The competitions are family-friendly and the rules are easy to follow. Watch miniature ponies take on large cob ponies and single ponies pitted against multiples.
Mounted games and team show jumping
Sunday 13 May only
The Pony Club Mounted Games were started over 40 years ago by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh and The Prince Phillip Cup, in collaboration with the Pony Club. The Mounted Games is a team competition requiring courage, determination and all-around riding ability on the part of the team members, as well as careful systematic training of their ponies.
The Senior Teams you see competing at Chatsworth are likely to be competing at their Area competitions, from which winners reach the final at the Horse of the Year where they compete for the Prince Phillip Cup.
The competition will be run in the Chatsworth Arena in accordance with The Pony Club Show Jumping Rules 2017. Each team will consist of 3 or 4 members, none of whom have reached their 21st birthday by the day of the competition.
Three scores to count per team. All members of each team will jump consecutively. One round to be jumped by each team member. Team members will jump in order as per the entry form. Each team will jump the course once and the winning team will be the one who has the least number of faults, with the best three scores in each team to count.
In the event of equality of faults, there will be a jump-off over a shortened course in which the whole team will participate. This will be against the clock.
Class 1: 80cm
Class 2: 1m
