Bonsall Arts Trail September Newsletter

As we move along with the plans for the second Bonsall Arts Trail.  We are busy organising the event and are well underway with a vision for another great art trail.  We have been successful with a very generous sponsorship from Longcliffe Quarries Limited, and without their generosity the trail would not be able to go ahead.  Longcliffe is striving  to increase the sustainability of its business, including aiming to be carbon neutral by 2030.  The company has turned many of its former operational sites into nature reserves and is committed to minimising the impact of its operations on the environment.

Large marquees are planned for the park for the exhibiting artists, these will have wooden floors, which will provide a flat ground for artists to set up their installation. The marquees and distribution of artists on the park will help greatly to ease the hotspot areas in the village, where there are narrow roads and limited parking.   Music is booked during the day, and we have the ‘The Heron Brothers’ a great duo for everyone to enjoy, both on Saturday and Sunday.  We are awaiting confirmation for the return of the popular ‘Ukelele Band’, so fingers crossed they will be able to make it.  Dosa Love and Kark Lebanese who were popular last year are back again, along with the ‘hop on’ ‘hop off’ bus to take visitors around the village over the weekend.

HOSTS

At the heart of the Arts Trail are the hosts who make it possible for us to accommodate artists during the weekend. We are thrilled that we have already received a great response those who hosted artists at the last Arts Trail. Many of them were eager know when the next trail would take place, as they enjoyed the experience and wanted to repeat the event. We are keen to spread artists throughout the village and busy recruiting anyone who would be interested in joining the team of hosts for the trail next year. Louise Stevenson (07891686333) is our host facilitator and is happy to speak to artists answer any questions from both artists and hosts.

Talking of signing up we have the ‘Call out to Artist’ for the trail live for applications up until 31st January 2024. The trail team are encourgaging the creatives of the village to apply with the opportunity to exhibit and show case their work at the Bonsall Arts Trail next year.  Curator space is busy and I am excited to tell you that up to now we are receiving a great response from artists. To apply please go to Bonsall Arts Trail – A new exciting Arts Trail for Derbyshire artists for more information,  and  a link to submit Via the Curator space website.
