Three outstanding shows fill the autumn schedule at Belper’s premier music venue,
St. Peter’s Church.
On 14th October the outstanding TAKE THAT EXPERIENCE will bring their latest show to St. Peter’s. The evening will not only feature the hits but also a special ‘Robbie Williams’ set that includes ‘Rock DJ’ and ‘Angels’.
THE TAKE THAT EXPERIENCE is widely regarded as the premier Take That tribute.
Their outstanding vocals, coupled with iconic dance steps and costumes, result in a high energy show that will have the audience singing and dancing along.
BBC’s Bob Harris and author/music journalist Colin Hall bring their intimate speaking tour to Belper based around their mutual love and appreciation of The Beatles, including rare archive from Bob Harris’ collection of interviews with Lennon & McCartney. By 1963 the pair had written so many songs they simply couldn’t all be accommodated on just their own Beatles releases, so it made artistic and economic good sense for them to be offered to other artists for recording and the Merseybeat boom of 1963 & 1964 gave them a tailor-made outlet in artists such as Cilla Black, Billy J. Kramer and Tommy Quickly. This is the story behind those songs, the hits, the misses and the demos that the group never released: ‘The Songs The Beatles Gave Away’
‘Whispering’ Bob Harris, OBE has been at the very heart of UK music scene for the best part of fifty years. He has established a worldwide reputation as one of the most trusted and influential broadcasters of his generation – described by Radio Times as “…one of the greats of British contemporary music broadcasting” and by The Mail On Sunday as “a national treasure”.
For the past 20 years Colin Hall has been the custodian at John Lennon’s childhood home ‘Mendips’ (guiding the likes of Bob Dylan, Yoko Ono and James Taylor around the property), he’s written two books on The Fab Four and presented a BBC Radio 4 documentary with Alexei Sayle titled ‘The Lennon Visitors’. Colin was incredibly in the audience at the Village Fete where John was first introduced to Paul..!
Bob and Colin have worked on several projects together before including the upcoming film Pre:Fab (which focuses on the band’s early days as The Quarrymen), a WBBC production of ‘The Songs The Beatles Gave Away’ and 2007’s Sony Award winning ‘The Day John Met Paul.’
Fireworks will arrive a day early (4 November) when Beverley Craven, Judie Tzuke & The Gabriella Swallow String Quartet take the stage with an all new show ‘Strings Attached’.
The audience will witness one of the final live performances by Beverley Craven, who has no plans to tour again after the ‘Strings Attached’ tour.
Featuring the Gabriella Swallow string quartet, this intimate acoustic show will feature songs and stories spanning their careers as singer/songwriters.
Brit Award winner Beverley Craven first shot to fame in 1991 with her debut album featuring the hit singles Holding On, Woman to Woman and the eternal classic, Promise Me. Judie Tzuke first came to prominence in 1979 with her timeless classic hit Stay With Me Till Dawn and the critically acclaimed album Welcome To The Cruise.
A humorous and highly entertaining evening is in store as two of the best loved UK female singer/songwriters join forces and bear their souls with new and classic songs from throughout their careers. Witty narrative, unforgettable melodies and poignant sentiments will leave you with a warm glow of nostalgia, or maybe even the odd tear.
Tickets for The Take That Experience / Bob Harris & Colin Hall / Beverley Craven & Judie Tzuke are available from livetickets.org, belperfringe.org, Derby Live and St. Peter’s church, Belper.
