The garden comes into its own at this time of year, delighting the senses with colour, scent, and birdsong. We invite you to lose yourself in over five miles of walks that take in fountains, ponds, streams, statues, and even a picture-perfect rope swing beneath a magnificent beech tree.
Shelter from the mid-day sun in the house while uncovering playful stories of the past in Picturing Childhood, or follow the creative process of designer Erdem Moralıoğlu, who has created a fashion collection inspired by Duchess Deborah and Chatsworth’s textile archives.
Our new £10 child ticket provides access to the house, garden, farmyard and playground for a full day of discovery. Start your adventure by taking the Peak Sightseer hop-on-hop-off open-top bus, which stops at our main car park as well as neighbouring towns and villages.
Show your travel ticket when you purchase entry to the house, garden or farmyard, and you’ll receive a free guidebook as a thank you for arriving car-free.
Experience the country fair |
30 August – 1 September
We’re counting down the days to this year’s country fair. Experience the Ukrainian Cossacks, IMPS Motorcycle Display Team, solo plane aerobatics, mounted games, and cookery demonstrations from TV chefs. Try new rural pursuits, ride a vintage funfair, shop for artisan food and gifts, and so much more. Book online in advance and save. |
If you have children to entertain, head to the farmyard for summer themed activities. Our family art in the park sessions run every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and are free to drop-in, or download our ‘Ways to Play Trail‘ and nature spotting guides to encourage kids to spend more time outdoors. Don’t forget to stop off for ice cream at The Parlour.
Until 16 August (6+ years)
Climb the tallest trees in Stand Wood in our Big Tree Climb. Led by expert instructors, there are seven sessions each day.
Junior ecology explorer workshops |
28 August (9-14 years) In these outdoor hands-on workshops, older children can discover how to identify different habitats, plants, trees, invertebrates and mammals. |
9 November – 5 January
Christmas at Chatsworth tickets are now on sale and include access to the house, garden, farmyard and playground. Visit between 9 November and 1 December and your ticket also includes access to the Christmas Market. Pre-booking is essential. We’ll reveal this year’s theme in September!
An enchanted Princess |
Wander the garden and you’ll find yourself following in the footsteps of acclaimed artists, authors, scientists and even royalty. Queen Victoria visited twice in her lifetime, but what feature did she like the best? |
A new look for the Cavendish Hotel |
The Cavendish Hotel at Baslow has unveiled a new look following a total refurbishment, inspired by its close connection to the Chatsworth Estate. Renowned interior designer Nicola Harding has brought together the very best local makers, and sourced artwork from the Devonshire Collections, to create a timeless interior for guests spending more time on the estate. |
Whether its a picnic in the parkland or a garden get-together, you’ll find everything you need for the perfect al fresco dining experience in our gift shops and online.
