Artcore are excited to announce their upcoming exhibition launch, “The Silence of Growing Things,” on FRIDAY 3rd MAY’ 2024, 5pm at Artcore Gallery, showcasing the works of London-based artists Freya Gabie and Arjuna Keshvani. Emerging from their recent residency in Bengaluru, India, where they delved into the city’s botanical gardens and colonial legacy under the guidance of historian Suresh Jayaram, the artists will present their distinct responses in an exhibition opening on Friday. Freya will explore post-colonialism, ecology, and place through the lens
of Bengaluru’s Lalbagh Botanical Garden, Derby Arboretum, and the ancient Nallur tamarind grove. Meanwhile, Arjuna will reflect on the colonial systems inherent in gardens like Lalbagh, Cubbon Park, and Kew Gardens, London.
PS: The Silence of Growing Things exhibition is open from 4 May to 22 June, Tuesday through Saturday between 12.00 pm – 5.00 pm at Artcore Gallery (8, Albert Street, Osnabruck Square, Derby DE12DS. Everyone is welcome.
