Following on from the tremendous success of last year’s Prime Ministers event, Iain Dale is returning to Buxton this year with The Presidents, leading an expert line-up analysing three recent occupants of the Oval Office.

Examining Our Relationship with the Natural World

Join Philippa Forrester for a trip to the Wild West, meeting the wolves, bears and elk of Grand Teton and Yellowstone and the conservationists, rangers and hunters who live alongside them.

Karen Lloyd and Tim Birkhead will be in conversation with Mark Cocker, discussing the place of nature in our world and our connection – or lack of connection – to it.

Writer and political activist George Monbiot is bringing controversial new book Regenesis to BIF, outlining his solutions to the negative impact mass farming is having on the planet. Join him in the Opera House to hear how we can transform our eating habits to save the planet.

Answering the same question from the other side are Sarah Langford and Jake Fiennes, examining the work already being done by farmers to create sustainable agricultural practices. Sarah Langford’s book looks at the transformations taking place in farming, while Jake Fiennes outlines a story of hope for farming and the British countryside.

Join BIF for a Special Fundraiser Event Examining the Ukrainian Crisis

We’ve drawn together experts for a panel discussion on the UK’s response to the war in Ukraine, scrutinising the actions of the government as well as the wider response to the ongoing situation.

Tom Tugendhat MP served in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and is currently Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee, keeping the government accountable for their actions in response to the conflict. Oliver Bullough writes for the Guardian and the New York Times, and is author of Butler to the World: How Britain Became the Servant of Tycoons, Tax Dodgers, Kleptocrats and Criminals, exploring Britain’s financial ties to Russian oligarchs. They will be in conversation with Julian Glover to examine the situation as it stands, how we got here and what shaped the UK’s response to the crisis.

The event will finish with music from Ukrainian soprano Inna Huiseva, singing a selection of Ukrainian pieces. One third of all ticket sales will go towards the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal.
