Derby Festé regrets to announce that Derby Festé 2024 will not be taking place this year. This decision has been made after careful consideration and with a heavy heart, in response to the current cost of living crisis and rising overhead costs.
“We understand the disappointment and frustration that this news may bring, especially considering the anticipation and excitement that typically surrounds Derby Festé,” said Steve Slater, Artistic Director & CEO of Déda / Festé. “Please know that this decision was not taken lightly, and we share in your disappointment. Festé holds a special place in our hearts, and we are deeply saddened that we are unable to bring it to life this year.”
However, Derby Festé will return in September 2025. The team is committed to ensuring that the festival remains a highlight of the cultural calendar, celebrating the arts, creativity, and community spirit that define the city of Derby.
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support and partnership,” added Slater. “For any questions or concerns about this decision, please do not hesitate to reach out. We value feedback and input as we navigate these challenging times.”
“Thank you for your understanding, patience, and ongoing commitment to Derby Festé,” concluded Slater. “We cannot wait to come together again in 2025 to celebrate the magic of the festival once more.”
This “pause” for one year, supported by both Derby City Council and ACE, will allow Déda to re-group and re-focus its programmes to better deliver its work in these difficult and financially challenging times.
