Derby Book Festival Spring Collection starts today!

Derby book Festival are kicking off this morning at Artcore with the first of their CivicLAB events, which feature academics from the University of Derby sharing their research and recent publications.

The CivicLAB events are all FREE and held at Artcore each morning (Thursday to Monday 4 March) from 10.30 – 11.30am. Make sure to book your place as some are now close to capacity.

Tickets are still available for most events!

Tickets are still available for most events – Sophie Elmhirst (Maurice and Maralyn) looks likely to sell out today and they have now sold out for the Tea with Michael Greaney (An A-Z of Jane Austen).  There are also very few spaces left for the children’s event with Charlotte J Marsh (Susie Sloth and Her Secret Superpower).

Flash Fiction Writing Competition

This year’s judging panel, which included previous winner Habiba Rana (who is still writing!), Creative Writing lecturer Simon Heywood and Sarah Newton, owner and director of Penguin PR and a Festival Trustee, met on Sunday and decided on the winners of this year’s competition.

Derby Book Fest will now brief the Illustration students at the University of Derby for a separate competition to illustrate each story.  These will then be produced as Festival bookmarks for the Summer Festival.
