A breath of spring at Buxton Fringe

A breath of spring at Buxton Fringe

Things are really hotting up as the Fringe celebrates over 100 entries with many more expected by the printed programme deadline of April 14th. See Take Part to get involved. Entries received by the end of March pay a reduced entry fee of £77.

Underground

Popular managed venue Underground has recently announced that it has a new location for 2024 – a retail unit at The Springs shopping centre in the heart of Buxton. Read all about it here. We are delighted with this development which is supported by High Peak Borough Council. There is still time to perform with Underground. Entrants should apply via https://underthefringe.com/artists/ rather than registering with the Fringe.

Fringe Springboard Line Up

We are excited to announce our entertainment line up at our Springboard event at the Green Man Gallery on Easter Saturday March 30th. Comedian Henry Churniavsky will be offering a sneak preview of his Fringe show Henry – The Grandfather & Godfather of Jewish Comedy, whilst musical offerings come from folk star Chris Milner, singer and guitarist Charlie Moritz, and lover of Americana story songs, Danielle Banks. There will also be updates from other performers.

Everyone is welcome to this fun event with party food and drink from 7-9pm. Please bring cash if you would like to donate for refreshments or buy merchandise including our limited edition, brand new Fringe umbrellas (£20 or £18 for Fringe Friends – note, cash payments only). The Green Man stage will be decorated with orange flowers and performers are invited to incorporate the theme of spring into their acts. Free seed packets will be on offer to those who would like to get involved in the Fringe’s popular floral Hot Spot scheme. There will also be a chance to enjoy the gallery’s fabulous Spring Gathering open exhibition.

Buxton Museum and Art Gallery

Our friends at Vision Buxton have organised a petition for people to show support for the museum which is currently closed. Read more on why we cannot let the museum become a thing of the past. Sign Vision Buxton’s petition on this.

Buxton Cultural and Heritage Friends & Volunteers Open Morning

Many organisations in the town are looking for Friends and volunteers. We will be part of a town-wide recruiting opportunity to be held on Saturday May 11th 10am-12.30pm at the Pump Room. Enjoy a chat over tea and biscuits. Visit the Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust website.

Fringe Friends

Thanks to all those Friends who have now updated their standing orders to reflect the revised membership fees, which are now £15 single/£25 joint membership. See our Friends page

Programme Party

Our Programme Party for the Fringe will be at the Green Man Gallery on Saturday June 1st from 7-9pm. Expect some fun taster performances from our entrants. Everyone is invited!

And more!
