Déda’s doors are back open and the team is excited to welcome you inside for a summer of dance, events and exhibitions.
Déda is delighted to reopen its doors to the public, with a warm welcome to all visitors to classes, events, exhibitions and Déda’s café | bar.
With Covid-19 safety measures in place, including test and trace, increased cleaning and reduced class capacity; Déda is approved with the Government’s ‘We’re Good to Go!’ industry standard.
Déda’s professional dance studios are alive once more with dance and movement courses for young people aged two to nineteen years old, and a programme of drop in adult classes including brand new styles such as Soca Dance Fitness and Solo Latin! All class customers will receive a free tea when they present their e-ticket in the café on the day of their class this term.
International photography festival FORMAT returns to Déda’s building, with a selection of the Open Call projects that explore manifestations of the festival theme ‘Control’. Déda will showcase the work of LeiLei, Anouchka Renaud-Eck, Tami Aftab, Juan Orrantia and Heather Agyepong, which observe the struggle for control from different angles.
There are events for all ages in Déda’s summer programme, beginning with Derby Book Festival’s Collage Workshop with illustrator Jane Porter for 3-8 year olds on Saturday 5 June and including the monthly Déda Book Club.
Late summer will see even more culture from Déda including the return of Derby Festé festival from Friday 24th September – Sunday 26th September.
Déda’s stunning spaces including its studios, café | bar, theatre and meeting room are open to hires with onsite catering available.

Steve Slater, Director for Déda says: “So here we are again, coming out of another lockdown and throwing open our doors finally to welcome the much-delayed FORMAT Festival, with a number of incredible artists on show around the building.
As our LIVE classes start again we also welcome the Derby Book Festival back to our building.
While our doors have been closed, we have not been quiet – making plans for the future and putting in motion some changes to the look of the building, which you will see taking shape over the summer.
With some new faces on the team and our energy, creativity and eagerness to connect with the people of Derby on an all-time high, we are looking forward to seeing you in our classes, events and café again as the programme begins to rebuild and renew.
Come and see us soon!”
