Music + Memory Matinees to Become a Monthly Resource in Wirksworth

Following a successful pilot in summer 2026, our Music + Memory Matinee sessions are set to become a regular monthly resource for people living with dementia and their carers in Wirksworth.

The initial series took place at Hannage Brook Medical Centre as part of our Creatives in Place programme, bringing people together through the shared experience of music. The sessions offered a welcoming, inclusive space for participants and their carers to connect, enjoy music and share meaningful moments together.

The positive uptake and impact of the pilot highlighted the value of making creative, music-based activities more accessible within the local community. In response, we’re delighted to announce that the sessions will now continue on a monthly basis, in collaboration with Sophie and Nick from District Musicians.

Music can be a powerful way to spark memories, encourage connection and support wellbeing. The Music + Memory Matinees aim to build on these benefits, creating opportunities for people living with dementia and their carers to come together, enjoy music and feel part of a supportive community.

We look forward to welcoming familiar faces and new participants to the upcoming sessions as this initiative continues to grow.
