University of Derby team help The Repton Festival

Staff and students from the College of Arts, Humanities and Education at the University of Derby are helping the Repton Arts Festival to realise its aspiration to become recognised as a festival of national and international standing.

Thanks to the efforts of the University of Derby student team, the festival’s Kidsfest’21 programme was available to view around the world. A team is now gearing up to cover the much larger Repton Festival that comprises Litfest’22, Filmfest’22 and Kidsfest’22.

This event is an action packed 48 hours starting on the evening of Friday 8th July and is open to everyone. Details are available at https://www.reptonliteraryfestival.co.uk/

Festival Director, John Cavey commented “ – The help we have received from the University of Derby team has been outstanding – it’s a joy to work with these imaginative, dedicated hard working young people who are a huge credit to themselves and their University, which actively encourages the hands on experience we are pleased to provide. The future for the creative industries looks rosy when there is talent like this around.”

Tom Craig, Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Film Production at the University of Derby, said: “This year’s Repton Festival is shaping up to be one of the most exciting cultural events of the year. The addition of a dedicated film strand to the already established Literary Festival has attracted some of the biggest names in the business. I am delighted to see our students entering the Short Film Competition, as well as utilising their industry-ready skills to support the event in a variety of roles. The Midlands has long been a centre of excellence for those interested in the movies and the Repton Festival reinforces this understanding admirably.”
