We are pleased to announce the selected artists for our upcoming ceramics residency, Terra. Congratulations Hayley Blackwell and Kate Langrish-Smith. They will be creating ceramic artworks over the coming weeks ready for our Terra: Ceramic Exhibition, opening in November.
About the Artists:
KATE LANGRISH-SMITH
Sheffield-based multidisciplinary artist Kate Langrish-Smith’s practice blurs the distinctions of art and design, delving into the interplay of texture, balance, and harmony through tactile compositions, images, and sculptural assemblies. These works, described as ‘tactile tensions’, encompass amorphous shapes and material forms that evoke or connect to the human body, featuring enticing textures and materials.
HAYLEY BLACKWELL
Hayley Blackwell, inspired by a lifelong fascination with materials, specialises in crafting unique sculptural artworks from earthstone clay. Her artistic practice revolves around the harmonious fusion of texture, colour, and pattern, skillfully harnessed through a diverse array of glazing techniques.
