Goodbye Uncle Fudgey @ Rotunda Bubble – Pavilion Gardens (33ka) Map 21, 22 Jul 6pm to 7pm, 23 Jul 6:30pm to 7:30pm
In this pathetic comedy about privilege, Tom Greaves (BFI Award winner) presents a dark satire about the psychological trauma of his own “privileged” childhood. Hiding behind his caricature, Greaves jumps between his own stifled vulnerability and the comical make-believe world of Uncle Fudgey, a sorry, desperate middle-aged man who falls down the rabbit hole into a kaleidoscope of unconscious memory. Goodbye Uncle Fudgey is an emotionally charged, at times hilarious, at other times disturbing, account of one man’s quest to uncover his feelings, face the traumas of bonding school and find… himself. Don’t miss this man in crisis!
After an early midlife crisis, Tom discovered that more than just a relationship breakdown impacted his psychological health. A combinationship of relationships, a sense of masculinity, mental health and a general understanding of what life was about had all suffered from childhood conditioning. Tom was also partly sexually abused by his headmaster who used to get him and other boys drunk and then play them cartoon porn and encourage us to engage in criminal activity such as vandalism in the local town- all of which led him to train in “bouffon” a style of theatre which targets rich and powerful people/institutions in society.
With 15 years in the acting industry, Tom Greaves trained at trained at LAMDA (The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) and Ecole Philippe Gaulier in the footsteps of alumini including Sasha Baren Cohen, Emma Thompson, and Roberto Benini.
