FORMAT Photoforum with Emma Bowkett & Max Ferguson

FORMAT Photoforum with Emma Bowkett & Max Ferguson

Emma Bowkett & Max Ferguson give us an insight into the world of commissioning and balancing an art practice with a career in photo editing.

About this event

For November’s FORMAT Photoforum we are joined by Director of Photography at FT Weekend Magazine and curator, Emma Bowkett and Photo Editor, photographer, writer and curator Max Ferguson, for a talk which looks at the ins and outs of commissioning and Photo Editing.

Emma will be giving us an insight into the commissioning process at the FT and also discussing some of her curatorial projects. And Max will be talking about the realities of linking an art practice with commissioning photography at both Port, and Granta Magazine. This will be a brilliant opportunity for photographers, creatives and artists at any stage of their career to learn more about how to gain commissions and enter into the world of publishing and photo editing.

Emma Bowkett is Director of Photography at the FT Weekend Magazine and a curator. She is an Associate Lecturer at LCC, and regularly participates at international workshops, portfolio reviews, festivals and awards. She is also the curator of a Financial Times special supplement and talks programme at the annual Photo London photography fair.

Max Ferguson is a photographer, writer and curator. He is the Founding Editor of Splash & Grab Magazine, the Photo Editor of Granta Magazine, the Director of Photography of Port Magazine, and a freelance Photo Editor at the Financial Times Weekend Magazine. He is a lecturer on the BA & MA Photojournalism and Documentary Photography courses at the London College of Communication and a regular visiting lecturer on various photography programmes across the UK. Max is currently studying for his MA in Photography at UWE in Bristol.
