Artists Invited to Explore Performance from a Parallel Perspective

Level Centre in Rowsley have teamed up with Old Diorama Arts Centre (ODAC) to offer a joint residency opportunity for disabled artists. From the hubbub of central London to the tranquil borders of the Peak District, through the Parallel Perspectives residency artists will be able to spend time in both studios and their surrounding areas, using two distinctly different locations to explore their work.

Parallel Perspectives will offer two artists a residency between August and December 2023, each receiving a financial contribution along with a residency in both London and Derbyshire.

Applications are welcomed for early stage contemporary performance projects. This could be a project that’s never been worked on or a collaboration that hasn’t been tested yet. It’s hoped that a joint residency will be a useful and contrasting experience, so applicants can respond to the location-based context of the residency if they wish, but this isn’t essential.

ODAC is an arts creation and community centre in Euston and is a shared home for the live arts, creative industries and local community to make, explore and meet. Daniel Pitt, Creative Director & Chief Executive at ODAC said:

“As ODAC continues to step-up our artist support activities, we’re delighted to partner with Level as another ‘creation centre’ with a complimentary perspective, so that together we can provide space for reflection and focus for disabled artists’ new ideas. England needs more spaces dedicated to artistic making, and more opportunities to develop those first parts of new work. We hope this partnership contributes to that.”
