Artist profile
I am a contemporary artist who paints in oils. I love to use colour to express my relationship to my subjects. My work is influenced by fauvism and expressionism, particularly by artists such as Matisse, Vlaminck and Van Gogh. I often paint subjects from the natural world reflecting my rural upbringing, although most recently some of my work has been inspired by coastal villages and the old streets and spires of local cities.
